Purpose:
Living in multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) can come with challenges, such as limited access to outdoor space, natural light, fresh air, and chances to connect with neighbours. Most new apartment buildings include balconies, and when they’re well designed, these spaces can extend the living space and greatly improve people’s well-being. This report summarizes a study that explored how balcony design influences the overall health and quality of life of people living in MURBs.
